This viola bow was made in the Klier workshop located in Bubenreuth, Germany. The Klier family has been making violins since 1887 with Johann Klier who set up his own workshop in Schönbach, Egerland. Johann passed away in 1918 & the workshop was passed to his eldest son, Otto Josef Klier. The Klier workshop have a wide range of products from good-quality student-intermediate options to more advanced instruments & bows. All instruments & bows are unique & of a very high standard, crafted by skilled makers with naturally aged timber.

This viola bow is stamped ‘*Otto Jos. Klier**’ & is made from very find pernambucco. This stick is octagonal & has silver wire lapping. It has a fine ebony frog & is silver mounted with a pearl shell Parisian eye. This bow has a three-part button with two parts silver & one-part ebony with pearl shell inlaid throughout.

This viola bow has a strong stick that boasts a fast response time with impressive resonance & projection. It has an excellent level of control throughout the length of the stick that facilitates both a light & heavy style of playing. This stick is beautifully balanced & maintains bold projection with a good level of clarity & focus. This bow would be suitable for advanced level players & early tertiary level study.
