Overview
BandQuest Series Grade 4.5
'Grand Trio in A minor'', Op. 17, composed in 1831, is one of the best chamber works by Dobrzynski. It may successfully compete with similar works by Hummel, Spohr or Onslow. According to Bronis?aw Dobrzynski, it was written under the influence of the masterly playing of Joanna Naimska nee Or?owska. Mrs Naimska, said to have been an excellent pianist, kept an artistic salon, visited by all guest-artists in Warsaw. Paganini, Servais, Liszt and many others were her guests. The Trio, dedicated to J. N. Hummel, was published by Breitkopf in Leipzig in 1834 and was performed in Warsaw in the hall of the Merchants' Club on 24 November 1835.
